Located in the southeast area of Chicago on the Calumet River, the Chicago Plant began operations in 1982. The plant became a part of the Compass Minerals family when it was acquired in 1989.

The Chicago receives salt on vessels from Goderich and on barges from our mine in Cote Blanche. Once at the plant, the salt is packaged for deicing or water conditioning use.
