Ryan Bartlett, Ph.D., has joined Compass Minerals as vice president, innovation and product development. Dr. Bartlett will be responsible for building a world-class research and development (R&D) team for the company’s plant nutrition division, anchoring its operations in a new North America “Center of Excellence” research facility near the company’s headquarters in Overland Park.
“Dr. Bartlett’s disciplined approach to product development and advancing scientific projects will be of exceptional benefit to Compass Minerals,” said Brad Griffith, senior vice president, plant nutrition. “Ryan’s background in agriculture and product development will allow us to maximize our newly expanded portfolio to create value for our farmer-customers.”

In his most recent position as Global Technology Development Innovation Lead, he was responsible for the development of global commercial field testing and innovation strategy, including the assessment of new technology from third parties.

Prior to this position, Ryan led global technology development for seed-applied solutions, global corn emerging technology and U.S. product development for specialty crops.
“We expect our commitment to innovation will generate interest from potential collaborators who can further advance our capabilities in plant nutrition,” Griffith added. “Further, we believe that Ryan’s demonstrated technical capabilities and his experience as a farmer and rancher will keep our developmental efforts better aligned with the needs of our customers,” Griffith added.
Dr. Bartlett earned a doctorate in biochemistry and a Bachelors of Science in genetics from the University of Kansas.
