Compass Minerals Names Brandon Risner Chief Operating Officer
Compass Minerals today announced the promotion of Brandon Risner to chief operating officer.
In his new role on the company’s executive leadership team, Risner will oversee operations for the company’s mining, packaging and production facilities. He will be responsible for advancing safe, reliable production while maximizing the value of the company’s advantaged assets.
He joined Compass Minerals in December 2020, most recently serving as vice president, operations, Ogden and consumer and industrial (C&I). Risner has nearly three decades of mining industry experience. Before joining the company, Risner was general manager of Illinois mines at Peabody Energy. He spent more than 17 years at Peabody in positions of increasing responsibility, including project engineer, manager of operations analytics and vice president of engineering and mine planning. Prior to his career at Peabody, he held positions with JD Hair and Associates and Kiewit Mining Group.

Risner holds a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
