LYONS, KANSAS

Located in central Kansas, the Lyons plant has operated since 1911. Salt was discovered, as at most other production locations, by accident when in the late 1880s, hoping to find oil and natural gas, a developer penetrated a salt bed.

More than 40% of the salt manufactured at the Lyons salt plant is used for water conditioning products to help combat the effects of hard water throughout North America. In addition, the Lyons plant produces and packages bulk food-grade salt and salt for agriculture uses.
