Employees Build and Donate Bikes for Low-Income Families
Compass Minerals’ Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team came together for a day of volunteering and team building to assemble and deliver bicycles to deserving children.
Working with Wish for Wheels, the employees combined philanthropy and team building to assemble 25 BMX bikes, which were then donated to low-income families of K-2nd grade students.
“The nature of what we were donating as part of this initiative really resonated with me,” said Jill Westra, environmental/sustainability manager. “The fact is that a bicycle is more than just a toy. Bikes represent freedom, sustainable transport, a healthy lifestyle, responsibility, independence and adventure and we were honored to give that gift to those 25 children.”
