Compass Minerals Recognizes International Workers’ Memorial Day

Compass Minerals is marking International Workers’ Memorial Day (IWMD) with a moment of silence today across all sites at 11 a.m. local time.

Recognized each year on April 28, IWMD is a day of remembrance and action for workers killed, disabled, injured or made ill by their work.

“The health, safety and security of our employees is the first priority in our business. We must be diligent in our efforts to identify and remove fatal risks from our workplaces, and ensure that all employees can go home safely,” said Pat Merrin, chief operations officer. “Through Compass Minerals’ focus on zero harm, we can achieve the safe workplace that every employee deserves. Across our organization, we take a solemn moment to remember the families and friends impacted by the deaths or injuries of workers.”

While remembering those who have died or been injured on the job, this day also provides an opportunity to highlight the preventable nature of workplace accidents and illnesses, and to promote continuous improvements in workplace safety.
