Employees Raise Funds for the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Employees at Compass Minerals’ corporate headquarters in Overland Park and the North American Innovation Center in Stilwell joined forces to raise more than $6,500 for this year’s Susan G. Komen Kansas City Race for the Cure.

Employees participated in various fundraising activities, led and organized by the Women’s LINK employee resource group, to generate donations in support of family, friends and colleagues battling the disease. From LifeSavers in the morning and bake sales in the afternoon, to T-shirts, Thank You balloons and Penny Wars – pitting members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and their teams against each other in collecting the most coins – each activity was engaging, encouraging and raised money for breast cancer research.

The fundraising activities culminated with an employee lunch during which donations were collected to duct tape a member of the SMT to the wall. Each donation made “purchased” a piece of duct tape which was then used to attach Diana Toman, SVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, to a wall. With our employee’s generous donations, Diana was successfully held off the ground with duct tape.

“Everyone has been touched by this disease in some way – be it friends, family or colleagues. The fundraising efforts for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure brought our employees together in support of this cause and community event, consistent with our core purpose of enriching lives” said Fran Malecha, President and CEO. “Congratulations to Women’s LINK for this fantastic month of fundraising and a special thanks to all employees who joined the fight against breast cancer.”
