Compass Minerals produces salt, plant nutrients and magnesium chloride for distribution primarily in North America. We also provide secure records storage in a retired mine in the U.K. Products from Compass Minerals serve a variety of applications in industrial, agricultural, commercial and consumer markets.

Salt is used in many different ways – more than 14,000 different ways. We are the leading salt producer in North America and the United Kingdom. Our largest business produces highway deicing products, but our deicing salt can also be found in consumer outlets.

Other applications include water care, animal nutrition and culinary salt. You may not realize it, but salt is also in plastics and glass, detergents and disinfectants, even rubber and polyester. The salt we produce is an invaluable element to lives across the world.

As with human nutrition, plant health requires vital mineral inputs to ensure growth. We provide a variety of plant nutrients for improved yield and consistent crop quality. Organic growers trust us as approved providers and we’re pioneers in plant nutrition technology resulting in less waste and higher performance.

We are the largest producer of sulfate of potash, a premium, low-chloride potassium fertilizer, in the Western Hemisphere. We are also the number one producer of dry dispersible powder micronutrients and phosphorus.

We are the only U.S. producer of magnesium chloride, a naturally occurring mineral, responsibly harvested from the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

Its many uses range from an additive and stand-alone deicer to a dedusting and stabilizing agent for gravel roads to reduce road maintenance and increase safety. It can also act as an early stage plant nutrient for wheat crops.

We pride ourselves on our sustainability efforts and they are especially evident in our DeepStore Records Management facility.

Located 500 feet below ground in excavated portions of our salt mine in Cheshire, United Kingdom, DeepStore specializes in long-term preservation, secure storage solutions and tailored document management systems – all with the goal of providing unrivalled protection from both natural and man-made disasters.
