Our Great Salt Lake Minerals subsidiary is the primary North American producer of sulfate of potash (K2SO4), the preferred potassium source for high-value crops. Unlike standard potassium chloride, sulfate of potash is virtually free of the chloride that can harm roots, and it has nutrient-rich sulfur as well as potassium to help crops grow. Also known as SOP or potassium sulfate, this vital nutrient improves the yield and quality of wholesome foods such as fruits, vegetables and tree-nuts. It also improves the durability of turf grass, so it is used on golf courses, professional sports turf and in consumer lawn products. Our sulfate of potash is organic approved so it is suitable for organic farms. ProductionWe produce our organic-approved fertilizer using clean solar energy and processes that do not consume or produce any hazardous chemicals or generate hazardous waste. We make our fertilizer by drawing water from the Great Salt Lake into solar evaporation ponds formed by a series of earthen dikes. Over the course of three years, solar energy naturally evaporates water from the ponds, leaving the potassium and other minerals that we gather.Facilities
