Duluth Plant Supports St. Louis River Quest

Compass Minerals’ Duluth plant donated $500 to support the 24th annual St. Louis River Quest, held in early May. In addition to the monetary donation, employees also donated blankets as prizes for the essay and poetry competitions.

The waterfront event in Duluth-Superior Harbor strives to further a deeper understanding of the St. Louis River by providing hands-on learning experiences to sixth-grade students. This year, nearly 1,500 students from 14 area schools participated in the event. Activities focused on topics ranging from pollution prevention and preventing aquatic invaders to personal water safety and commercial shipping.

“Everyone in the Duluth community plays an important role in sustaining the economic vitality and environmental health of the St. Louis River,” said Mark Laliberte, plant manager at the Duluth plant. “Compass Minerals sees the importance of environmental sustainability, and we believe it is essential to teach the next generation of leaders the values of this harbor.”
